What does it do?
OpenScape Business is Mitel's (formerly Unify) phone system and unified communications platform for small and mid-size organisations. Internal and external calling, voicemail, conferencing, DECT cordless phones, an attendant console and desktop/mobile UC clients run on a single system. No separate voicemail server or DECT controller is needed.
The hardware models (X1, X3, X5R, X8) support digital (UP0/E) and analog phones as well as ISDN and analog trunks next to IP phones. Existing cabling and handsets can stay while you move to IP step by step, and SIP trunks can run alongside carrier lines. The software-based OpenScape Business S runs on a Linux server or virtual machine and scales to 1,500 IP subscribers.
Several sites can be joined into one network: voice networking scales to 32 nodes and up to 2,000 users in total. Branches share one numbering plan and behave like a single PBX. The current software release is V4 (released to market on 30 July 2026).
Who is it for, and at what scale?
X1R (rack) or X1W (wall): offices, shops and branches with up to 50 UC users. Connects straight to the carrier over SIP trunk.
X3R / X3W: a mix of IP, digital, analog and DECT up to 500 subscribers. Wall-mount X3W where there is no rack.
X5R: same subscriber limit as X3 with more analog (68), digital (56) and ISDN BRI ports. For factories, industrial zones and campus buildings.
X8: 384 analog and 384 digital subscribers, 250 DECT handsets, 180 PRI channels. The central PBX for sites with many wired endpoints.
Business S: up to 1,500 IP subscribers on your own server or VM. Where analog or ISDN lines are needed, X-series boxes are added as gateways.

Migrating from older systems
V2 mainboard systems: support ends 31 December 2026
According to Mitel's announcement, support for the OpenScape Business V2 mainboard and compatible UC options (UC Booster Card OCAB and UC Booster Server) ends on 31 December 2026, and V4 software does not run on the V2 mainboard. After that date Mitel's support obligation for the V2 mainboard ends; fixes are delivered only on a V3 mainboard with V4 software. The path forward is a V3 mainboard plus V4; UC is built into the V3 mainboard, so no Booster card or server is needed.
From V3 to V4
The V3 software phase-out started on 30 July 2026; fixes are now delivered on V4 only. X systems with a V3 mainboard (wall-mount models included) and Business S move to V4 with a regular software upgrade when an active software assurance (SWA) contract is in place. V3 licences remain valid in V4. Support for the Accounting / Welcome applications ends on 31 December 2026, and myContacts has been discontinued.
From HiPath 3000 to OpenScape Business
HiPath 3000 and HiPath 500 systems are first upgraded to V9, then migrated to an OpenScape Business X with a V3 mainboard; licences are carried over with "OpenScape Business Upgrade HiPath 3000 V7/V8/V9". The migration includes 3 years of software support. optiset E and optiPoint 400/500 phones must be replaced — CP205T / CP405T on the digital side, CP G2 phones on IP. Housing, power supply and slot constraints are checked during the site survey. After migration the system is upgraded to V4 as usual.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy OpenScape Business?
OpenScape Business is sold and installed through Mitel's authorised partners. As a Mitel Silver Partner, Promark quotes, installs and maintains systems for projects across Türkiye and Turkmenistan. Send your user count, current PBX and trunk type by WhatsApp or phone; the BOM and quote come back within 24–48 hours.
How do I migrate from HiPath 3000 to OpenScape Business?
The HiPath 3000 is first upgraded to V9, then migrated to an OpenScape Business X with a V3 mainboard, and licences are carried over with "OpenScape Business Upgrade HiPath 3000". optiset E and optiPoint 400/500 phones are replaced. Housing, power supply and board compatibility are checked during the survey; then the system is upgraded to V4.
What is the difference between X3, X5 and X8?
All three reach 500 subscribers with the V3 mainboard; the difference is wired endpoint and trunk capacity. X3 supports up to 20 analog and 24 digital subscribers, X5R 68 analog and 56 digital, and X8 384 analog, 384 digital and 250 DECT handsets. X3R and X5R are 19-inch rack units (2U and 3.5U), X3W is wall-mounted and X8 is a modular housing.
When does OpenScape Business V3 support end — do I need to move to V4?
Mitel started the V3 software phase-out on 30 July 2026 and released V4 on the same date. Fixes now come on V4 only. Systems with a V3 mainboard move to V4 with a regular software upgrade under an active SWA, and V3 licences remain valid. Moving to V4 is recommended to keep receiving fixes.
Will my V2 mainboard system work after 2026?
It keeps running, but support for the V2 mainboard, UC Booster Card (OCAB) and UC Booster Server ends on 31 December 2026, and V4 does not run on the V2 mainboard. After that date fixes are delivered only on a V3 mainboard with V4. With a V3 mainboard, UC is built in and no Booster hardware is needed.
Should I choose OpenScape Business or OpenScape 4000?
OpenScape Business fits up to 500 users per site, 1,500 when virtualised and 2,000 across a network. If you need more subscribers, geo-redundant call control or central management of many sites, OpenScape 4000 is the candidate. After the site survey we compare both options with a BOM.
Send your user count, current PBX and phones, trunk type (SIP, ISDN, analog) and location by WhatsApp. We return a BOM and quote within 24–48 hours. Across Türkiye and Turkmenistan.
